|City Hall, the Bedford Gallery, and the front offices at Heather Farm Community Center, Civic Park Community Center and the Shadelands Arts Center will be closed for the winter holidays beginning at 5 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 23 and will reopen at 8 a.m. Friday, Jan. 2. (Note that public counters at City Hall will remain closed on Friday, Jan. 2). Public safety services will remain available.|

|Walnut Creek on Ice is back at Civic Park through Jan. 11, 2015. The rink opens at noon Mondays through Thursdays, and 11 a.m. Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays. Tuesday nights are Family Skate Night, with a special price of $25 for a family of four. Free evening parking is available at a number of surrounding businesses, but no parking is allowed for ice skaters at Civic Park. That's the question a Citizens Advisory Committee has been asking for the past two years through community workshops and neighborhood meetings. Now, a draft West Downtown Specific Plan is ready for review by the community and the City Council. Written comments on the Environmental Impact Report are being accepted through Jan. 5; there will be many more opportunities for public input over the next several months as the plan is reviewed by the City Council and commissions.
