Community Service Day is this Saturday, Oct. 10 - Walk-ins welcome!

Make Walnut Creek shine this Saturday by being part of Community Service Day! There are many half-day projects still needing volunteers - parks and schools in particular. If you already signed up, great! If not, come to Heather Farm Community Center between 7:30 and 8:45 a.m. on Saturday to see the list of projects still needing help, and have a delicious free pancake breakfast, courtesy of the Walnut Creek Lions clubs. OR, feel free to go directly to your chosen project's site by 8:45. (Check the online registration to make sure spaces are still available). More details on the Community Service Day website.

Take a walk in the open space with Mayor Bob on Oc

Join Mayor Bob Simmons for a 3.5 mile walk in the Shell Ridge Open Space on Saturday, Oct. 17. Meet at 9 a.m. at the Marshall Drive entrance to Shell Ridge Open Space. This is the mayor's final walk for his 2015 mayoral term. For additional details on the route, visit the Walnut Creek Walks webpage.

Just added! Free workshop on going solar
Due to popular demand, the City is holding a second workshop for homeowners interested in being part of the East Bay SunShares program. East Bay SunShares helps reduce the cost of going solar through group-purchasing. The workshop will be on Thursday, Oct. 15 from 7-8:30 p.m. at City Hall, 1666 N. Main Street. In addition to a presentation on East Bay SunShares, there will be a meet and greet with solar installers. To RSVP, click here. For more information about East Bay SunShares, click here.
