PG&E converts street lights to energy efficient LEDs
man installing LEDA collaboration between Pacific Gas and Electric Co. (PG&E) and the City of Walnut Creek to convert approximately 3,100 non-decorative PG&E-owned streetlights to energy efficient and longer lasting Light Emitting Diode (LED) fixtures is well under way, and should be done by Labor Day.
LED streetlights use 50 to 75 percent less energy than traditional bulbs, significantly reduce greenhouse gas emissions and require less maintenance. New LED streetlights, which provide a more natural-looking light, can last up to four times longer than traditional bulbs.
