Nomination period now open for City Council, Treasurer
The filing period for persons interested in running for Walnut Creek City Council and City Treasurer is now open. Two City Council seats are up for election: those currently held by Mayor Kristina Lawson and Councilmember Cindy Silva. Lawson has announced she is not seeking reelection.
The City Treasurer is currently held by Ron Cassano, who has completing his 5th term as Treasurer.

Centennial Grove fund-raising under way
Celebrate Walnut Creek's Centennial Year by donating to the Centennial Grove at Heather Farm Park.
The Grove will include 100 trees encircling the pond. The trees are both native and from around the world, representing the diversity of people who settled in Walnut Creek.
The Centennial Grove will include public art by a renowned artist and peaceful places to relax and reflect by the pond.
Everyone who donates $250 will have their name etched in stone on the grove's Centennial Rock.

Help Create a Portrait of Walnut Creek
In honor of Walnut Creek's centennial, the Bedford Gallery will host an exhibition titled Walnut Creek Turns 100: Celebrating the City Through Art, which runs September 21 – November 16 at the Lesher Center.

Be a part of this historic exhibition by submitting your artwork that reflects Walnut Creek's rich history, land, commerce, community, and culture, both past and present. Walnut Creek Turns 100 is open to members of our community who live or work in town, and to all those who love Walnut Creek.
